Curriculum News: Environmental Engineering on the EDGE

The 4Leaf team, in conjunction with The Tech Interactive, is rolling out a new curriculum for middle school aged youth in out-of-school settings in fall 2025 and we’re seeking participants to join in the fun. Environmental Design and Green Engineering (EDGE) combines hands-on engineering and resiliency skills building activities all in one curriculum!

What EDGE Offers:

  • Free program leader training and support

  • Free curriculum with 6-8 hours of engineering-focused content for middle school youth.

  • Activities built around the engineering design process and different aspects of environmental engineering

  • Opportunities for youth to collaborate on real-world issues.

  • An exploration of careers in environmental engineering

  • Resiliency skills-building activities to help them thrive in school, at home, and in life.

Program requirements:

  • At least six youth in grades 5-8 who can regularly participate

  • Internet access & one computer per two participants

  • A participant survey to fill out at the end of the program (results shared with project staff)

  • Attendance at a training session in early September 2025. 

  • The ability to return surveys to the program by 11/5/25.
